I’ll admit, I’ve never before attended a cookie swap. I pictured the insanity of a clothing swap, and the scene in my head wasn’t pretty (hello, Cookie Monster…). But this weekend’s Cookie Swap for a Cause, organized by Swap.com and the Boston Food Swap, was pretty civilized! Over 100 people brought cookies to Space with a Soul - and some of these bakers really upped the ante. My sad plate of two dozen brownies looked pretty pathetic next to piles of raspberry cheesecake bars, apple cider and caramel cookies and dipped chocolate oreos rolled in candy cane pieces. At the appointed hour, everyone lined up and took one or two cookies from each pile - I ended up with quite a bounty of cookies! Glad to Give donated $.10 for every cookie to Cookies for Kids with Cancer, resulting in over $600 for the cause. Santa (who was on hand for pictures) may be disappointed; it’s safe to say all my cookies will be eaten before he arrives on Christmas Eve.
